Run Leader

I started running back in 2010 with the main aim of meeting new people. I was happy with running 5km up to 13.2 miles and I was adamant that I would never run anything further than 13.2 miles. However, after a few years of focusing on triathlons and a few years not running, I moved to Teesside in 2017 and I met the Orchard Eagles and since then, my running ambitions have somewhat increased!

My first run with the club was great, I met some lovely people on a really social run and they showed me around Eaglescliffe. They were really welcoming and I decided to start running again and I haven’t regretted the decision. My core belief that 13.2 miles was the furthest I could run did not last long with the Eagles. Only 7 months in and I ran my first marathon and 5 years later, I have graduated to ultra-marathons and multi-day runs.

I run to enjoy myself and clear my head, I run to meet people and I run to see new parts of the UK and the world (running has taken me to Sri Lanka for a 5 day run and soon to Tanzania).  I love running in events where there is no pressure and where I can meet like-minded people along the way. I try not to pressure myself and I don’t worry about stats/pace (I am one of those rare “naked runners” as I run with no watch). I love pushing myself by increasing my distance and entering events that will challenge my endurance.

I became a running leader in 2022 as I wanted to give back to a club that has made my life in Teesside so enjoyable (all of my family are down South!). I love seeing people achieve their running goals and I try to encourage runners of all ability to meet their running goals.
