Risk Assessment Officer & Run Leader
I started running in 2015 as I was feeling fat and lazy and looking to get fitter and lead a healthier lifestyle. Initially I ran with another club in Yarm doing 10 mile runs but was often running on my own. That’s when I decided to join Orchard Eagles Running Club and I found that I fitted in very well. I love that everyone in the Eagles is supportive of all members, no matter which distances everyone chooses to run.
I think that my favourite run would have to be at Kielder: it was here that I completed my very first full marathon. This is also my proudest moment. It is a beautiful location and it’s a very special place to me. That being said, the Hardmoors’ community is also very close to my heart and I enjoy both supporting race preparation and marshalling as well as taking part.
I became a Run Leader because I like seeing people overcome their fears and accomplish what they never thought they would be capable of. I would describe my leader style as caring, but I take no prisoners!
An interesting fact about me would be that I like nettles and I am particularly fond of splashing about in puddles. I love tormenting my dog by taking him out on long runs too. Oh, and I love eating.
